Every year, lakhs of students write NEET UG, but government MBBS seats are limited. Rajasthan has more than 30 government medical colleges, yet the competition for them is very high. This is why private medical colleges have become an important option for students who qualify NEET but do not get a government seat.
Rajasthan is a good state to look at because the private sector is large and growing. New colleges have opened in Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Sikar and other cities in the last few years. Most of them are attached to multi-speciality teaching hospitals, which means students see real patients from the early years of the course.
How MBBS Admission Works in Rajasthan's Private Colleges
Admission to private MBBS seats in Rajasthan is done only through NEET UG score and state counselling. Colleges cannot admit students directly. Here is the process in simple steps:
1. Qualify NEET UG. You must score at or above the qualifying percentile announced by NTA for your category.
2. Register for Rajasthan NEET UG counselling on the official counselling board website and pay the registration fee.
3. Upload documents such as NEET scorecard, Class 10 and 12 marksheets, category and domicile certificates, and photo ID.
4. Fill and lock your college choices. List colleges in the order you prefer. Seats are allotted by merit, category and choice order.
5. Check the seat allotment after each round and report to the college within the given dates.
6. Pay fees and complete verification. Many colleges ask for post-dated cheques or a bank guarantee at this stage (see Section 4).
Types of seats
• General (state-nature) seats: filled through counselling at the lower, government-notified fee. This fee is still subject to final approval by the state Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC) in many colleges.
• Management seats: filled through the same counselling but at a higher fee set by the college.
• NRI seats: for eligible NRI candidates, with a separate (higher) fee structure. Check the latest counselling notice for the exact number of seats and fee.

MBBS Fees in Private Colleges
Tuition is only one part of the cost. When you plan your budget, add these items:
• Caution money (security deposit): a one-time amount, usually ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh. Ask the college in writing whether it is refundable and when.
• Admission or registration fee: one-time, from about ₹5,000 to ₹2.5 lakh depending on the college.
• Miscellaneous and exam fee: charged every year, from about ₹10,000 to ₹5.5 lakh.
• Hostel fee: charged separately. Yearly hostel charges range from about ₹2 lakh for sharing rooms to ₹7 lakh for single AC rooms. Hostel is compulsory in some colleges.
• Post-dated cheques or bank guarantee: several colleges ask for cheques or a guarantee covering the remaining years of fee at the time of joining.
• Fee revision risk: many colleges say the tuition is still subject to the Fee Regulatory Committee. The final amount can change.

What PMCH offers students
• Medical college and hospital on one campus. The 700+ bed hospital is part of the same system, so students can move from classroom to ward and begin clinical exposure early.
• Wide range of departments. The website lists General Medicine, General Surgery, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radio-diagnosis, Anaesthesiology, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, Community Medicine, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology and Anatomy, among others.
• Skill lab, modular operation theatres and modern wards. The college shows a clinical skill and simulation lab, modular OTs, laboratories and patient wards in its campus gallery.
• Fee at the entry level of the Rajasthan range. The general seat fee of ₹18.90 lakh per year is in the lowest tier among Rajasthan private colleges, along with several other colleges listed in Section 3.
• Hostel choices. Students can choose from sharing, single and AC rooms, which helps families plan the budget.
Things to confirm before you choose PMCH
• PMCH is a new college, so it does not yet have a long record of university results, internship outcomes or multi-year cutoff trends. Ask for the NMC approval letter and the latest mandatory disclosure, which the college publishes on its website.
• The college asks for post-dated cheques for the remaining 3.5 years of fee and a surety affidavit at admission. Prepare for this in advance.
• Confirm the approved seat number for your admission year, since sources show different figures.

Which colleges should you target at your NEET marks?
Use the 2025 closing data in Section 5 as a starting point, not as a promise. Cutoffs rise and fall with the difficulty of the paper and the number of seats.
|
Your position |
Sensible approach |
|
Around 450 marks or more (general) |
Mahatma Gandhi Medical College, Jaipur was the only private college closing in this range in 2025. Keep it at the top of your list and add several safer options. |
|
About 270–310 marks |
American International Institute (Udaipur), Ananta Institute (Rajsamand) and, based on first-year trackers, PMCH Sikar were in or near this range. |
|
About 140–160 marks |
Most Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and Sri Ganganagar colleges closed here for general seats, including Geetanjali Institute, Arya, Tantia and JIET. |
|
Below 140 marks |
Management seats and later rounds of colleges such as NIMS, Geetanjali (Udaipur), Pacific and Sudha. Compare fees carefully because management seats cost more. |
|
Reserved categories |
Check your own category closing ranks in the official PDFs. Ranks differ a lot for OBC, EWS, SC and ST. |
Documents checklist for counselling and admission
• NEET UG admit card and scorecard; Class 10 certificate (age proof) and Class 12 marksheet with PCB marks.
• Category certificate (OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST) in the format asked by the counselling board, and domicile certificate.
• Aadhaar card or other photo ID, recent passport-size photographs and a transfer or migration certificate as required.
• Cheques, bank guarantee papers and surety affidavit if the college asks for them. Keep photocopies of everything.
• Fee receipts and the official allotment letter. Never pay an agent before you have the allotment letter.
How to Choose the Best Private Medical College
Do not decide only on fees or cutoff. Use this simple checklist to compare colleges:
• NMC approval and seat intake: check the college record on the NMC website for the exact number of approved seats for your year.
• Teaching hospital: ask how many beds are functional and how many patients visit the OPD every day. Clinical learning depends on patient flow.
• Total cost: add tuition, hostel, caution money, miscellaneous fee and guarantees. Ask for a written fee letter.
• Faculty and departments: check that all departments and faculty names are listed in the college's mandatory disclosure.
• Track record: look at university exam results, internship completion and postgraduate seats. For a new college, ask what is planned.
• Location and family support: a college near your home city can reduce travel and living costs.
• Fee revision and bond rules: read the counselling notice about FRC revision, service bond and stipend before you pay.

After MBBS: internship and postgraduate options
MBBS is a 5.5-year course, and the last year is a compulsory rotating internship in the teaching hospital. After that you can start practice, prepare for NEET PG to study MD or MS, or move to super-speciality courses (DM or MCh) after your postgraduate degree. Some private colleges in this list, such as Mahatma Gandhi Medical College, Geetanjali, NIMS and Tantia, already run postgraduate courses, which can help students who want to continue in the same hospital. When you compare colleges, ask about internship stipend, internship rotation and the college's postgraduate seats.
Conclusion
Rajasthan gives NEET qualified students a wide choice of private medical colleges, from long-running names such as Mahatma Gandhi Medical College, Geetanjali and NIMS to newer colleges such as Prince Medical College & Hospital in Sikar. The right choice depends on your NEET score, your budget and the kind of hospital training you want. Start by checking the official fee notice and round-wise cutoff PDFs, compare the full cost (not just tuition), verify NMC approval and seat intake, and speak to each college directly.
